Logan Marchi Earns Second Straight College Sports Madness NEC Offensive Player of the Week Honor

CSM Release

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart football QB Logan Marchi's explosive effort on Saturday earned him a second straight College Sports Madness NEC Offensive Player of the Week honor, as announced on Sunday morning. Marchi tied a school record with six passing touchdowns and helped engineer a 35-point second half for SHU as the Pioneers overcome a three-point halftime deficit to defeat Lafayette 56-40 on Saturday.

The fifth-year QB Marchi took on a starring role, dropping big plays all over the field to finish 22-for-32 on his attempts for 407 yards with 6 TDs and 0 INTs, leading the Pioneers to their highest-scoring game since 2013. Marchi became just the second SHU QB to throw for six scores in a game, matching the program record established by Dale Fink against Duquesne on Nov. 14, 2009. The six-touchdown total also represents the most passing TDs in a game for any FCS QB in Week 3.

Marchi's 407 yards represents a new career-high, marking the first time in his collegiate career he has thrown for over 400 yards and the fourth time he has gone for 300+ in a game. In addition, the throwing yardage total is the second-highest for a Pioneer in school history. Over the last two games, Marchi has gone 43-for-69 (62.3 percent) on his attempts for an incredible 723 yards, 9 TD and 0 INT. Marchi is averaging 16.8 yards per completion across the last two games and has yet to take a sack in three games to start the 2019 season.

The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday, September 21 with the NEC opener coming at Long Island for a 1 PM start.
