Men's Basketball's Sean Hoehn Selected to Participate in 3-on-3 National Tournament

FAIRFIELD, CONN. – Sacred Heart University men's basketball senior-captain Sean Hoehn has been selected to participate in the 2019 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship, scheduled for April 5-7 at Minnesota's Mall of America. Hoehn is one of four players selected from the Northeast Conference and is the first player to represent SHU in the second annual tournament.

The tournament is comprised of all-star teams of seniors, who have exhausted their collegiate eligibility, representing all 32 Division I conferences. The teams will compete for a $150,000 prize pool, with the champions taking home $100,000, double the prize money from a year ago. Additionally, the winners will earn the right to compete in the 2019 USA Basketball 3x3 Open National Championship later this spring.

"I am really excited to represent the NEC and Sacred Heart University men's basketball one last time," Hoehn said. "To be the first SHU representative in this budding event is a true honor, I can't wait to get on the floor and hopefully get a few more wins."

Hoehn became the eighth player in program-history to earn All-NEC First Team honors after finishing third in the NEC in scoring with 17.9 points per game. Hoehn shot 47.4% from the field and 40.6% from three this season, which ranked 12th and fifth in the NEC respectively. Hoehn reached double-figure point totals in 28 of the Pioneers' 32 games, leading the team in scoring in 15 games and dropping at least 20 points in 11 of the 28 contests. Hoehn scored 1,366 career points, which ranks 23rd on the program's all-time scoring list.

"I am proud that Sean has been chosen to represent Sacred Heart University, SHU basketball and the NEC for the tournament," SHU men's basketball head coach Anthony Latina said. "He has put in the work on and off the court for four years and this is a great way for him to wrap up his collegiate playing career."
