FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart Head Men's Basketball Coach Anthony Latina announced on Tuesday that Kinnon LaRose has been named as co-captain, joining senior captain Sean Hoehn as the team captains for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.
"I am extremely excited to name Kinnon as a co-captain for our program. It is a honor that he has earned and deserves," Latina said. "Being selfless is one of our program's core values and Kinnon is as selfless a player and person as I have ever worked with in my coaching career! He is the ultimate team first individual and will be an terrific compliment to Sean who has done an excellent job of leading our very young group of guys to this point!"
LaRose averaged 9.2 points and led the Pioneers with a 34.1% three-point shooting percentage last season, appearing in 31 games. LaRose scored a career-high 24 points last season in a 66-65 win over Fairleigh Dickinson, where he shot 9-for-14 from the field and 6-for-9 from three.
This season LaRose is averaging 8.3 points and a career-high 5.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 47.4% from the field and 35% from three. LaRose scored a season-high 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting and 4-for-8 from three in a loss against UMass Lowell.
SHU will be back in action on Thursday, Jan. 10 when the Pioneers travel to take on Wagner at 7 p.m. on ESPN3.
