Parker's Double-Double Pushes Men's Basketball Past Hartford, 98-89

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team defeated visiting University of Hartford, 98-89, Tuesday night on Coach Bike Court at the Pitt Center. The victory improves the Pioneers to 3-4 on the year, while the Hawks fall to 2-6.

SHU had six players score in double figures and shot 58.6 percent from the field to earn the win. Sean Hoehn led the Pioneers with a team-high 22 points, while Cameron Parker added 12 points and 10 assists for the first double-double of his collegiate career.

  • A nip and tuck opening portion of the game saw Hartford hold a 21-18 lead, 9:14 into the game

  • SHU responded by going on a 17-2 run to take a 35-23 lead with 6:28 remaining in the first half

  • Hartford outscored SHU 18-14 the rest of the half, but SHU took a 49-41 lead into the break

  • The first-half featured eight lead changes and four ties


  • After Hartford cut the SHU lead to 56-49, Hoehn nailed a three-pointer to push the Pioneer lead to 59-49 with 17:07 remaining in regulation

  • After a Hartford basket cut the Pioneers' lead to 63-57, SHU went on a 13-2 run to increase its lead to 76-59 with 6:17 remaining in the contest

  • Hartford pushed for a late comeback attempt, cutting the deficit to as close as 92-86 with 41 seconds left in regulation

  • The Pioneers went 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the final minute to close the contest, with Parker going 6-for-6.
