FAIRFIELD, Conn. – With the regular season less than four months away, the Sacred Heart men's basketball program has unveiled its non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2018-19 season. The schedule features 13 games leading up to the start of Northeast Conference play in January, including three home matchups at the Pitt Center.
After opening up the season on the road at Holy Cross on Nov. 6, the Pioneers will host Western New England in their home opener on Monday, Nov. 12. SHU will then embark on a four-game road trip, including a trio of contests at the Brown Bears Tipoff Classic in Rhode Island. SHU will open the tournament against Army West Point on Friday, Nov. 16, followed by a clash with host Brown on Saturday, and a matchup with UMass Lowell on Sunday. The following weekend, SHU will hit the road once again to play at Binghamton on Nov. 24.
The Pioneers will return to the Pitt Center on Nov. 27 for a midweek matchup with in-state foe Hartford before embarking on a five game road trip. The trip will begin Nov. 29 at Boston College, marking the third straight season that SHU will visit Chestnut Hill. The Pios will play at both Lafayette (Dec. 2) and Dartmouth (Dec. 10) before an eight-day layoff for final exams. Games will resume at Seton Hall on Dec. 19 and St. John's on Dec. 22.
The Pioneers will then close out their non-conference slate at home on Dec. 29 when they welcome UMass Lowell. The rematch with the River Hawks will be the first time SHU is playing a non-conference opponent twice in the same season since 2012-13 when they split a pair of games with Stony Brook.
