Setting the Scene... SHU looks to snap its longest losing streak in almost three years Saturday when it hosts Central Connecticut on Alumni Day.

Last Time Out... The Pioneers cut a 16-point LIU Brooklyn lead down to two with 7:14 to play Thursday night at the Pitt Center, but a 10-0 Blackbirds run put LIU Brooklyn up for good in a 69-60 loss for SHU. Freshman guard Alex Watson led the Pioneers in scoring, tying a career-high with 15 points. Joseph Lopez had his fourth double-digit rebound game in his last five with 11. Joel Hernandez led LIU Brooklyn, and all scorers, with 30 points.
Barnett #2 On #SCTOP10... Redshirt-Senior forward De'von Barnett had the #2 play on Sportscenter Thursday night for his block of a Jamall Robinson dunk in transition. Barnett is inching closer to his 1,000th career point after scoring nine points off the bench against LIU Brooklyn. He enters Saturday with 984 career points, 16 away from 1,000. Barnett is sixth in the NEC in field goal percentage at 52.7%.
Watson Ties Career High... Freshman guard Alex Watson tied his career-high in scoring with a team-leading 15 points Thursday night against LIU Brooklyn. He last scored 15 points at Providence on Dec. 22. In his last three games, Watson has averaged 10.7 points and three rebounds per game while shooting 57% from the field.
Hoehn Bounces Back... Sean Hoehn bounced back from missing the Saint Francis U game on Jan. 28 to score 11 points Thursday night against LIU Brooklyn. It was his sixth double-figure scoring effort in his last seven games. During this stretch, Hoehn has averaged 12.7 points and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 88% at the free throw line. He also has a 2.6 assist/turnover ratio over the last seven games. Hoehn is fourth in the NEC in assists with 4.22 per game and fifth with a 1.76 assist/turnover ratio.
All-Time Vs. CCSU... The Pioneers have played Central Connecticut more than any other NEC member, with Saturday marking the 61st meeting in the series. The Blue Devils lead the all-time series, but SHU has won each of the last four meetings and five of the last six.
Last Meeting... SHU won its fourth straight game on Feb. 11, 2017 with a 77-62 win over CCSU at the Pitt Center. Sean Hoehn made five three-pointers to lead the Pioneers with 17 points. Matej Buovac had 13 points off the bench on his Senior Day. SHU made 13 three-pointers in the game, shooting 56.5% from the arc. Mustafa Jones led the Blue Devils in that game with 14 points and six rebounds.
Scouting CCSU... Picked ninth in the NEC Preseason Poll, the Blue Devils find themselves in seventh place at 5-6 after a 72-59 loss at Wagner Thursday night. Tyler Kohl led CCSU with 21 points and 16 rebounds, playing all 40 minutes. Deion Bute, the NEC's leader in field goal percentage, added 14 points. CCSU is second in the NEC in field goal percentage (.460) and third in field goal percentage defense (.434). Kohl leads the Blue Devils in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
