Setting the Scene... The Pioneers travel to Providence for their last non-conference test before Northeast Conference play begins.

Last Time Out... SHU was held scoreless for the final 9:16 on Sunday, as Binghamton went on an 11-0 run to win the game 51-48 at the Pitt Center. Sean Hoehn and Joseph Lopez each had a team-high 11 points. Hoehn also tied a career-high with seven rebounds.
Lopez Scoring And Boarding... Joseph Lopez has scored in double figures in 11 of the first 12 games this season. He led SHU in scoring for the seventh time this season on Sunday with 11 points against Binghamton, adding six rebounds. Lopez leads SHU in scoring and rebounding with 13.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. He also leads the NEC in rebounding and double-doubles with five.
Hoehn Filling It Up... Junior guard Sean Hoehn has scored in double figures in each of the last four games. Hoehn led SHU with 11 points Sunday against Binghamton. He also tied a career-high with seven rebounds. In his last four games, Hoehn is averaging 14.3 points and 3.3 assists per game. He has also made 14 of his last 18 free throws.
Plenty In Reserves... The SHU bench has averaged 17.7 points per game so far this season. The Pioneers have had a player score at least 10 points off the bench seven times so far in the 2017-18 campaign. SHU has gotten less than 10 points from its bench twice in the first 12 games.
All-Time Vs. Providence... The Friars have won all four meetings against the Pioneers. Three of the four all-time meetings have been decided by 10 points or less.
Last Meeting... Sacred Heart was within three at halftime, 44-41, but could not get past the Friars in an 84-76 loss at Providence on Dec. 21, 2010. Shane Gibson led all scorers with 26 points, making six three-pointers. Jerrell Thompson added 12 points for the Pioneers. Marshon Brooks led the Friars with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists.
Scouting Providence... Picked to finish fourth in the Big East in the preseason, the Friars are 8-3 heading into their matchup with Houston at Mohegan Sun Arena Wednesday. Providence bounced back from a two-point halftime deficit against Stony Brook on Sunday to defeat the Seawolves 62-60. Nate Watson was 7-for-11 from the field to lead Providence with 15 points. Isaiah Jackson added 13 points. Rodney Bullock, the Friars' leading scorer and rebounder at 14.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, had 12 points against Stony Brook.
