Last Time Out... SHU held Lafayette to 50 points in a 62-50 win at the Pitt Center Saturday. De'von Barnett, Joseph Lopez, and Sean Hoehn each had a game-high 15 points for the Pioneers. Lopez tied a career-high with 16 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.
No Place Like Home... SHU's win over Lafayette was the Pioneers' third straight win at the Pitt Center. In those three wins, SHU has averaged 75 points per game and shot over 40% from the field. The Pioneers have won their last three home games by an average of 14 points per game.
Plenty In Reserves... The SHU bench has averaged 19.1 points per game so far this season. The Pioneers have had a player score at least 10 points off the bench seven times this season. De'von Barnett had 15 points and nine rebounds off the bench in Saturday's win over Lafayette. SHU had a season-high 31 bench points Tuesday against Dartmouth.
Barnett's Back... After missing the first six games this season, redshirt-senior De'von Barnett has averaged eight points and five rebounds per game over the last four games. Barnett was one of three Pioneers to have 15 points in Saturday's win over Lafayette, adding nine rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench. Barnett is 14-for-22 from the field in his first four games of the season.
All-Time Vs. Hartford... The Hawks hold a 9-4 lead in the series against SHU. Hartford has won four of the last five meetings, with SHU's last win coming in 2014.
Last Meeting... The Pioneers overcame a late three-point deficit to force overtime on Dec. 3, 2016 at the Pitt Center, but Hartford opened the extra period with an 8-2 run and won the game 87-79. Quincy McKnight led all scorers with 20 points and five assists. Joseph Lopez had 18 points and De'von Barnett had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jack Hobbs led five Hawks in double-figures with 18 points.
Scouting Hartford... The Hawks moved to 4-6 on the season with a 77-75 win over Quinnipiac on Thursday. John Carroll's three-point play with 0:22 left got the Hawks past the Bobcats. Carroll finished the game with 14 points. Travis Weatherington led the Hawks with 22 points. Carroll leads Hartford with 17.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Jason Dunne is second on the team in scoring with 16.4 points per game.
