FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart Head Men's Basketball Coach Anthony Latina announced on Wednesday that Jaecee Martin has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Sacred Heart beginning in the 2017-18 season.
Martin, a 5'8" guard from Hartford, Conn., averaged 18.2 points per game as a senior at Weaver High School, leading the state of Connecticut with 6.6 assists per game while being second in the state with 4.7 steals per game. He was named the All-Courant Boys Basketball Player of the Year last year by the Hartford Courant. Martin led Weaver to a 23-4 record and a Central Connecticut Conference Central White Division championship as the Beavers reached the Connecticut Class LL quarterfinals. Weaver reached the Connecticut state championship game three times in Martin's career, winning the 2015 Class M championship.
"We are extremely excited to have Jaecee become part of our Sacred Heart Basketball family," said head coach Anthony Latina. "He brings a toughness and winning mentality that has defined his career and will continue to do so for our program."
Martin joins EJ Anosike (East Orange, N.J./Paramus Catholic/St. Thomas More), Tony Boateng (Bronx, N.Y./Commonwealth Academy [Mass.]), Alex Watson (Marietta, Ga./Allen Pope) and transfer Jarel Spellman (Richmond, Va./Fork Union Military Academy/Florida Southern) to round out the 2017 recruiting class.
