Setting the Scene... Sacred Heart travels to Staten Island Saturday afternoon, looking to level its NEC record against the Wagner Seahawks. 

Last Time Out... Quincy McKnight's two foul shots with 0:34 left proved to be the difference Thursday night as SHU won at Central Connecticut 64-62. McKnight finished the game with 23 points, going 8-for-8 at the free throw line. Joseph Lopez had his fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Pioneers.

All-Time vs. Wagner... The Seahawks lead the all-time series with the Pioneers 20-14. The two teams split last season's series with the road team winning each contest. SHU has won two of the last three meetings after Wagner won five straight.

Last Meeting... Sacred Heart had five players score in double-figures on Jan. 24, 2016 in a 67-58 win at Wagner. Cane Broome led the Pioneers with 17 points. Tevin Falzon had a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. Quincy McKnight and Jordan Allen each scored 11 points, with Matej Buovac adding 10 points off the bench. SHU made seven threes in the first half to build a 37-31 halftime advantage.

McKnight Making Buckets... Sophomore guard Quincy McKnight is currently third in the NEC in scoring, averaging 18.6 points per game. McKnight led SHU with 23 points Thursday night, going 8-for-8 at the foul line. Over the last five games, McKnight has made 31 of his last 35 free throws. He has the two highest single-game scoring performances in the conference this season - 36 points at Boston College on Dec. 18 and 34 against UMass Lowell on Dec. 6. 

Lopez Double-Doubles... Joseph Lopez recorded his fifth double-double of the season Thursday night at CCSU with 12 points and 10 rebounds. It was his fourth double-double in the last six games. Since Dec. 11, Lopez is averaging 15.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per game while shooting .625 from the floor. Lopez is third in the NEC in both rebounding (8.7 per game) and field goal percentage (.592). He is also fifth in blocks with 0.94 per game. Lopez has blocked a shot in each of the last seven games.

Paint It Red And White... Sacred Heart has scored at least 30 points in the paint in each of the last six games, and in nine of the last 10 games. SHU scored 40 of its 64 points in Thursday night's win in the lane. The Pioneers had a season-high 46 points in the paint at Santa Clara on Nov. 21. Sacred Heart is fourth in the NEC in  field goal percentage (.434) and fifth in scoring offense (70.6 points per game).

Scouting the Seahawks... Picked to finish second in the NEC Preseason Poll, the defending regular-season champs are 1-2 in the league after a close 70-69 loss to FDU Thursday night. Wagner trailed by eight, 68-60, with 2:43 to play and cut the deficit to one but never took back the lead. Michael Carey led all players with 21 points and 22 rebounds. Carey leads Wagner in rebounding at 9.1 per game while scoring 11.1 points per game. Corey Henson leads the team in scoring with 13.3 points per game.
