FAIRFIELD, CT (November 14, 2011) - Sacred Heart men's basketball coach Dave Bike announced that Tevin Falzon has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Sacred Heart University in 2012-13.
"Tevin is a very skilled, face-up four man that can hurt you with jump shots and low post moves," stated assistant coach Johnny Kidd. "He is an excellent passer from the low post and on outlets. Tevin has tremendous upside and has a good feel for the game. He will be a good addition to our front court."
"I choose Sacred Heart University because I felt it was the right fit academically and basketball wise. Also, Sacred Heart University did not wait on me and offered early showing that they really believe that I can be an impact player for them at the next level"
Falzon, a 6-7 forward from Newton, Massachusetts, was a four year starter and a senior co-captain at Newton North High School. He is currently enrolled at Winchendon School for his post-graduate season. During his senior season at North Newton, Falzon missed significant time with an injury but returned for the last four games of the regluar season to help lead his team to the Division 1 South finals. He was also named a McDonald's All-American as a senior and as a junior received the John Mazzarini Sportsmanship award in the Comcast Tournament.
In 2009, Falzon played for the Maltese National 18-and-Under team in the FIBA European Championship, helping lead his team to the gold medal in the C Division. During the tournament, he averaged 13.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
"He has good size and hands for a post player," said coach Bike. "We liked his feel for the game and he has a knack for scoring."
