FAIRFIELD, Conn.— Sacred Heart University baseball's Jake Frasca and Ryan LaMay earned All-Northeast Conference honors as announced by the league on Wednesday afternoon. Frasca earned First Team honors, while LaMay was selected to the All-NEC Second Team.
Frasca garnered All-NEC First Team honors as a third baseman, as the Darien-native had a breakout campaign for SHU leading the team in 10 offensive categories including a .415 on-base percentage, a .454 slugging percentage, 16 extra base hits and 28 RBI's. His .342 batting average ranked sixth in the NEC, while his 67 hits ranked fifth in the conference.
The 2019 campaign saw 21 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games from the SHU third baseman. In NEC-play, Frasca boasted a .378 batting average, .477 on-base percentage and a .527 slugging percentage.
LaMay picked up All-NEC Second Team honors as an pitcher with in his sophomore season. LaMay ended the year with three wins, 45 strikeouts and 5.42 strikeouts per nine innings. The Washington Depot-native tossed 74.2 innings this season, which ranked fourth in the NEC and opponents held a .257 batting average against him, which was the second lowest among pitchers in the conference.
The Pioneers earned the fourth seed in the NEC Championship after going 19-32-1 on the year and 11-13 in NEC-play. SHU will be back in action on Thursday, May 23, when the Pioneers take on top-seeded Bryant at noon at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Conn.
