Brown Homers Twice in Game Two of Baseball's Doubleheader at LIU Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Sacred Heart University baseball team split its doubleheader against LIU Brooklyn Saturday, falling in game one 10-3 and winning 17-10 in game two. The Pioneers moved to to 15-24 on the season and 7-7 in the NEC, while LIU Brooklyn moved to 16-22 and 8-9 in NEC-play.

Jackson Aldam pitched in relief in game two to pick up his third win of the season. Elijah Brown led the SHU offense, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and eight RBI's. Jake Frasca and Austin Markmann also homered in the win.

GAME 1 NOTES (LIU 10, SHU 3):

  • Ryan LaMay got the start and took the loss after surrendering eight runs on 10 hits and striking out four in five innings of work

  • Jake Frasca led the SHU offense, going 4-for-5 with an RBI

  • Danny Glendon went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a walk

  • The Pioneers struck first after Frasca served an RBI single to left to score Elijah Brown in the first inning

  • LIU Brooklyn responded with three runs of its own in the bottom of the first to take a 3-1 lead

  • SHU cut the deficit to 3-2 in the second after Stephen Thibault reached on an error, allowing Austin Markmann to score

  • Trailing 4-2 in the third, Glendon drilled an RBI double to right to bring the score to 4-3

  • However, the Blackbirds pushed six more runs across the board and held on for the 10-3 win

GAME 2 NOTES (SHU 17, LIU 10):

  • Matt Aufiero got the start and took the no-decision after giving up two earned runs and striking out three in 3.1 innings of work

  • Jackson Aldam earned the win after giving up one earned run in 1.2 innings of relief

  • Elijah Brown led the offense, going 3-for-5 with two homers and eight RBI's

  • Dan Fallacaro went 4-for-6 with two RBI's

  • Jake Frasca and Austin Markmann homered in the win

  • SHU got on the board first after Brown led the game off with a solo home run to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead

  • LIU Brooklyn responded by plating two runs in the bottom of the first to take an early 2-1 lead

  • Brown drilled his second homer of the day after launching a three-run shot down the right field line to give SHU a 5-2 lead in the fourth inning

  • Frasca followed with a two-run homer of his own to extend the Pioneers' lead to 7-2 in the inning

  • Markmann followed with a solo home run immediately after to give SHU an 8-2 lead

  • Daubon pushed the lead to 9-2 after an RBI single in the fourth

  • A few batters later, Jordan served a two-run single up the middle to give the Pioneers a comfortable 11-2 lead

  • With SHU leading 12-2, LIU Brooklyn scored twice in the fourth and twice in the fifth inning to cut the Pioneer lead to 12-6

  • After the Blackbirds trimmed the SHU lead to 13-7, the Pioneers added three runs in the seventh off a Fallacaro two-run single and a bases loaded walk to Brown for a 16-7 lead

  • Brown drove in his eighth run of the game with an RBI single to put SHU ahead 17-9 in the ninth
