Baseball Falls to Central Connecticut on the Road, 5-1

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to NEC-foe Central Connecticut, 5-1 on the road Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 12-21 on the year and 6-6 in the NEC, while CCSU improves to 14-12 and 6-4 in the NEC on the season.

Thomas Pinto took the loss after giving up three earned runs in three innings of work. Jake Frasca went 3-for-3 and drove in the lone run for the Pioneers.

NOTES (CCSU 5, SHU 1):

  • Thomas Pinto took the loss after giving up three earned runs and striking out two in three innings of work

  • Jake Frasca went 3-for-3 with a solo home run

  • Alex Perry, Anthony Porrino and Danny Glendon picked up a hit apiece in the loss

  • CCSU broke the scoreless tie after scoring three runs in the third inning

  • The Pioneers got on the board after Frasca drilled a solo homer to left in the sixth inning

  • The Blue Devils responded with two runs in the seventh and went on to secure the 5-1 win over SHU
