Baseball Announces Captains for 2018-19 Season

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sacred Heart University baseball head coach Nick Restaino announced on Thursday that RHP Brent Teller and OF/C Bobby Garbuio have been named team captains for the 2019 season.

"I am happy to announce both Bobby and Brent as captains for the upcoming 2019 season.   Both have exemplified dedication, selfless leadership and competitiveness throughout the fall season," Restaino said. "Their contributions go further from the field and are committed to the teams' success as the ultimate goal."

Teller led SHU with 79 innings pitched and ranked fourth in the NEC with 77 strikeouts. Teller recorded four wins on the hill for the third straight season. Teller fired seven strong innings with seven strikeouts in the season-opening win over Norfolk State on Feb. 23. He also fanned a career-high nine batters in a pair of wins at Kennesaw State on Mar. 10 and at FDU on May 5.

Garbuio appeared in 26 games for the Pioneers last season with 11 starts. He drove in a pair of runs against Stony Brook on Feb. 26 and recorded first multi-hit game on March 29 versus Wagner.
