Hunt Seat Qualifies For Nationals For First Time in Program History With Second Place Finish at Hunt Seat Regionals

SOUTH HADLEY, MA.- The Sacred Heart University Hunt Seat Squad qualified for the IHSA National Hunt Seat Championships as the Pioneers placed second overall at the IHSA Zone Championships this afternoon. Senior Cariann Johnson was named the Zone 1 Cacchione Cup Rider as well. The Pioneers will be heading to the IHSA National Championships on Thursday May 2 at the New York State Fairgrounds Colisium in Syracuse, N.Y. for the first time in program history Roger Williams placed first overall with 37 points while SHU placed second with 36 points. 

Team Results:

Cariann Johnson 2nd in Open Fences and 1st in Open Flat

Anne Bergere 4th in Intermediate Fences

Elisa Palmier 4th in Novice Fences and 2nd in Novice Flat

Brigitta Shepard 2nd in Intermediate Flat

Rebecca Dion 1st in Walk Trot

 

Cariann Johnson 1st in the Zone I High Point class

 

Hunt Seat finished 2nd with 38 points and qualifies as a team for the National Championship for the first time in program history

Roger Williams University finishes with 39 points for the win and also goes to Nationals for the first time ever

Lea Mascola placed 7th in Novice Fences

Gina Gramarossa placed 10th in Novice Flat
