How it Happened:
Unlike yesterday, the Pios got on the board first in the bottom of the opening inning. With runners on second and third base, Peter Link grounded out to plate Alex Ungar for the 1-0 lead.
After a quiet second, Zack Kovalchik got things started with a beautiful triple to left center. With an out and runners on second and third, Dante D'Amore singled to left field plating Kolvalchik and advancing Ungar to third. Continuing the Pios scoring run was none other than Steak Newman who drilled a ball to left center for a two RBI double. A pair of walks plated Peter Link for another run. Sealing the 8-0 lead was Joe Cilea who cleared the bases with a three RBI double to right center.
Manhattan responded in the top of the fourth with an RBI double from Andreaus Lewis.
The Pios extended their lead to 10 in the bottom of the fourth as the Jaspers struggled to field the ball. Steak Newman worked a walk with bases loaded to plate Ungar. Still with bases loaded, Chuck Tallman hit a ground ball past the shortstop for a two RBI base hit for the 11-1 lead.
Sacred Heart's bat continued to be hot in the bottom of the fifth. Link plated Ungar with a base hit to left field. With bases loaded, Ronan Donohue plated D'Amore with a walk after coming back from being down 2-0 in the count.
SHU extended their lead to 15 in the bottom of the sixth. Gavin Donohue tripled to left field plating Kovalchik. Ungar and Tim McGuire each secured an RBI triple.
Desperate for a comeback, the Jaspers added two in the top of the ninth with a two RBI single but fell short 16-3.

The Pios return to Veterans Park on Sunday for game three of the series against Manhattan at 1 p.m.
