Sports: Women's Ice Hockey
The Sacred Heart University Women's Ice Hockey program has a new home, it was announced October of 2014. The Pioneers will play and practice at the Sports Center of Connecticut located in Shelton, Conn.
"The Sports Center of Connecticut is a top-notch facility and we could not be happier to call it our home," said Sacred Heart head women's ice hockey coach Tom O'Malley. "Our student-athletes are excited to practice and play in such a facility, and I think that all that attend our games will enjoy the fan experience that the rink provides. My staff and our players are all looking forward to a great season in our new home."
The Sports Center of Connecticut is a state-of-the-art 15 acre facility located in southern Shelton. It is home to the only double decker NHL ice arena in the World. The double decker design features one rink stacked on the top of the other. The facility also includes a spacious locker room for the team that attaches to an athletic training room. The Pioneers will also have access to strength and conditioning facilities and office space for the coaching staff at the rink.

"As a premier Division l hockey team, the Pioneers serve as a role model for the tens of thousands of hockey players that skate at The Rinks at Shelton.
