FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart University Assistant Director of Athletics for strength and conditioning Chris Fee has announced the hiring of two new staff members for the upcoming 2018-19 academic year, with the additions of Collin Engstrom and Jenna Liljeberg as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coaches.

Liljeberg returns to Sacred Heart after spending the last two years as a graduate assistant at the University of Delaware, where she received a master's degree in exercise science with a concentration in exercise physiology. While at Delaware, she helped coordinate strength and conditioning programs for several teams and served summer internships at Boston University and the University of South Carolina, where she assisted in training and conditioning for the national championship women's basketball team.

Liljeberg received her bachelor's degree from Sacred Heart in May 2016 and was a four-year member of the Pioneers' women's lacrosse team, serving as team captain and a member of SAAC during her junior and senior years. As a senior in 2016, she scored 21 goals and amassed 24 points, highlighted by a hat trick against UMass Lowell and scoring four goals in a 14-10 win at Holy Cross.

Engstrom comes to SHU after previously serving as the Assistant Director of Football Sports Performance at Yale University. At Yale, he helped train the men's lacrosse team that captured the 2018 Division I national championship, as well as the 2017 Ivy League football champions. He also served as an assistant sport performance coach with the Yale Weightlifting Club.

Engstrom arrived at Yale in February 2017, shortly after graduating with a master's in human performance from the University of Alabama. While at Alabama, he served as a strength and conditioning intern with the Crimson Tide for three years while completing graduate research. He received his bachelor's in exercise physiology after graduating Magna Cum Laude from East Carolina University in May 2014, where he was a member of the Kinesiology Club and the Buccaneer Weightlifting Club.

Engstrom has been certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a Certified Level-1 Olympic Weightlifting Coach from United States of America Weightlifting, and a Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
