The Sacred Heart University Department of Athletics announced the addition of Matt Carroll and Scott Plank as Assistant Equipment Managers. Carroll will assist with the equipment duties for men's ice hockey, rowing, men's and women's fencing and cheerleading, while Plank will provide coverage for women's ice hockey, men's and women's cross country and track & field, men's and women's golf and baseball.
"It is a pleasure to welcome Matt to the SHU family and Scott back to the program," said Pioneers head equipment manager Chris Velez. "They both bring a wealth of experience with them to the department I am excited to watch the impact they will make on the experiences of our student-athletes."
A graduate of Salve Regina University, Carroll comes to SHU after serving as the head equipment manager for the New Jersey Titans in the NAHL for the past 18 months. He was a team captain at Salve in the 2014-15 campaign and earned ECAC All-Academic Team accolades. Carroll also has extensive experience in youth hockey over the course of his career.
Carroll earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Salve Regina before earning a Master of Sports Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Plank is a double graduate of SHU, earning his B.S. in Sports Management and M.S. in Human Resource Management from the University. While at SHU, he served as a student equipment manager with the Pioneer football and baseball teams. As a graduate assistant in the SHU equipment room in 2016-17 he provided coverage for baseball, women's soccer, the tennis programs, bowling and equestrian.
