![]() The Women's Cross Country Team Has Posted Three Top 3 Finishes This Season |

Fairfield, CT- John Kenworthy (Gloversville, NY) picked up his second NEC Athlete of the Week nod after running to a seventh-place finish at the UAlbany Invitational on Oct. 18. The women’s team finished third in the race, led again by Sarah Tencza (Succasunna, NJ) and Mekenzie Krause (Bennington, VT), while the men earned seventh place in their race.
Kenworthy broke the tape in 25:19 among a field of 186 harriers from 22 different institutions. Kenworthy’s finish made him the top NEC performer of the four league teams that participated in the UAlbany Invitational. The men received a top-20 finish from sophomore Andrew Houghtalen (West Charlton, NY) who clocked in at 25:39. Brendan Rickert (Danbury, CT) and freshman Taylor Dressman (Brooklyn, NY) finished in 59th and 67th respectively. The Pioneer top seven was rounded out by Ryan Murdouch (Salem, CT), James Curran (Hazlet, NJ), and Jeffrey Lusigan (East Montpelier, VT).
The women’s team again showcased their deep roster, putting 6 runners in the top 50. Tencza and Krause have been running 1-2 for the Pioneers all season and posted respective times of 18:22 and 18:32. The sophomore Troy sisters finished in third and fourth for the Pioneers. Samantha Troy (Lebanon, CT) finished in 31st at 18:47 and Dana Troy (Lebanon, CT) clocked in at 18:49, crossing the tape in 33rd place. Sara Pollock (Sandy Hook, CT) and Brittany Llobell (West Sayville, NY) also continued their impressive freshman campaigns posting times of 18:55 and 18:58. Kathleen Henry was Sacred Heart’s seventh finisher in 59th place at 19:13.

The men’s and women’s cross country teams have had strong seasons gearing up for the NEC championship race. Both teams should heavily contend for a conference crown as they chase favorite Quinnipiac. The Northeast Conference championship race is next on the docket for both squads and will be decided November 1 at Holmdel Park in Holmdel, NJ.
