Women's Cross Country Competes At Northeast Region Cross Country Championships

The Sacred Heart women's cross country team finished 17th of 36 teams on Friday at the Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships, after finishing 29th in 2016. Kate Svensen was the first SHU woman across the line to finish in 71st place, 24 places higher than her 2016 Regional appearance. 

Next for the Pios was Lindsey Lucas, finishing in an incredible improvement from her 2016 performance. Last season Lucas was 157th, but crossed the line on Friday in 76th. 

Not far behind her were teammates Tara Connelly in 84th and Jody DiCicco in 85th.   Connelly was 193rd in 2016, while this was DiCicco's 6k debut.

Rounding out the scorers was sophomore Jaqueline Thorne, who also improved on her 2016 Regional performance. Last season she finished in 218th, but crossed in 159th on Friday.

SHU are back in action Friday Nov. 18 at the Indoor Cross Country Championship at Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx, NY at 9:30 am
