Albany, NY.- The women took home their second victory of the season, beating out six other competitors at the Albany Invite. Their score of 37 points beat out U Albany by nine points as well as NEC competitors St. Francis University by 21 points.
Tara Connelly finished third overall and first for the SHU women, knocking 17 seconds off her personal best as she finished in a time of 17:49.9. Kate Svensen was right behind her in fourth place, also snagging a personal best by 19 seconds in a time of 17:52.9. Connelly and Svensen now rank the sixth and seventh on the program's All-Time 5k list.
Lindsey Lucas was eighth in 18:11.5, more than a minute and a half faster than her 2015 performance on the course and a ten second improvement on her personal best. Jody DiCicco wasn't far behind, crossing the line in 18:17.9 for ninth. Rounding out the top five scorers was Emma Cary in 13th, with a new personal best time of 18:24.1.
Hannah Chamblin (18:25.3) and Jaqueline Thorne (18:30.6, personal best) also had strong showings, contributing to the programs fastest top seven finishers in program history, with a spread of less than 41 seconds.
The Pioneers are back in action Friday Oct. 20. at the 15th Annual Central Conn. State Univ. Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park, New Britain, CT at 3 pm.
