FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart women's cross country head coach Christian Morrison was named the Northeast Conference Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year on Monday after leading the Pioneers to the 2013 NEC Championship.
This is Morrison's third NEC Coach of the Year award, having previously been honored with the title in 2003 and 2005. He led the women's cross country team to its second NEC title this season, and first outright title. This is also Morrison's eighth NEC Coach of the Year honor across all seasons of cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field.
The Pioneers had four All-Conference members in 2013, led by senior Brianna Castrogivanni (Commack, N.Y.) who finished second at the NEC Championships. Elizabeth Hutchins (Pawcatuck, Conn.), Emma Bolduc (Peterborough, N.H.) and Shannon Hickey (South Easton, Mass.) were also All-Conference after placing third, eighth and 11th respectively. Sacred Heart had four top-five team finishes in 2013 and earned seven NEC weekly awards.
