PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Brianna Castrogivanni (Commack, N.Y.) won her third race of the 2013 season on Saturday at the Princeton University Invitational, covering the 6K course in a time of 21:25. As a team, the Sacred Heart women's cross country team placed sixth out of 25 teams.
The Pioneers had two runners in the top-15 as Elizabeth Hutchins (Pawcatuck, Conn.) finished 13th in a time of 22:12. Emma Bolduc (Peterborough, N.H.) placed 45th, covering the course in 22:42. Shannon Hickey (South Easton, Mass.) ran a time of 22:42 to finish 51st overall. Jennifer Hahne (Madison, Conn.) rounded out the Sacred Heart scoring pack, finishing 60th in a time of 22:55.
Sacred Heart finished nine points behind fifth-place Cornell in the team competition. The Big Red had 161 points to the Pioneers' 170. Duquesne won the team competition with 47 points as Columbia, La Salle, and Buffalo rounded out the top four.
The Pioneers will now take the next two weeks to prepare for the Northeast Conference Championships, held at Immergrun Golf Course in Loretto, Pa. on Nov. 2.
