(Fairfield, CT) – Brittany Heninger (Bristol, CT) and Emma Bolduc (Peterborough, NH) both were honored by the Northeast Conference this week for their memorable debuts with the Sacred Heart University Women's Cross Country team at the Fordham Fiasco. Heninger, a graduate senior transfer who ran as an undergraduate at UCONN, was named NEC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, while Bolduc was named NEC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week.
Heninger placed eighth out of 217 finishers with a time of 18:25 and was the top finisher among NEC athletes running Saturday at Van Courtlandt Park in the Bronx. She recorded a 20-second personal best for her career, and also ran the second fastest Van Cortlandt Park time in SHU program history and moved into sixth on SHU's all-time performers list for cross country.
Bolduc finished first among NEC rookies and 61st overall with a time of 19:57, joining Heninger in helping lead the Pioneers to 5th place finish out of 17 teams competing.
