FAIRFIELD, CT - The Sacred Heart women's volleyball team got off to a fast start on Senior Day, taking the first set 25-9, but the Robert Morris Colonials took the next three sets to finish off a 3-1 Northeast Conference decision over the Pioneers on Sunday.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Pioneers and finishes the regular season at 22-10 overall and 12-4 in the NEC. Robert Morris is 14-19 and 11-5 in the conference. The Pioneers will take on CCSU in the first round of the NEC Tournament at LIU that starts on Saturday.

Sophomore Brittany Best led the Pioneers Sunday with 17 kills and ten digs, her eighth double-double of the season. Ashlyn Trimble (Temecula, CA) also had a double-double with ten kills and 14 digs. Sophomore Maile Hetherington (Thousand Oaks, CA) finshed with 14 kills, and freshman Elise Sage (Greenwood Village, CO) 13 kills.

Robert Morris was led by Hannah Veith with 13 kills. Alyssa Bennett led the defense with 14 digs. The Colonials will face top-seeded Long Island University in the first round of the NEC Tournament.
