FAIRFIELD, CT - The Long Island University women's volleyball team came to SHU Saturday with a perfect 12-0 record in the Northeast Conference and showed why when they handed the Pioneers their first home loss of the season, 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-14).

Senior Svetlana Simic led LIU, 15-13 and 13-0, with 14 kills and ten digs, while Martina Racic had 11 kills and 12 digs. The Blackbirds hit an impressive .391 in the match, making just nine errors while recording 45 kills.

Freshman Johanna Ovsenek (London, Ontario) led the Pioneers with nine kills. Sophomore Ashlyn Trimble (Temecula, CA) had seven kills and a team-high ten digs.

The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Pioneers and was their first loss in the Pitt Center in ten matches. SHU is now 18-8 overall and in second place in the NEC at 8-2. Both NEC losses have come at the hands of the Blackbirds.
