FAIRFIELD, CT - Sophomore Brittany Best (Norco, CA) had ten kills while teammate Ashlyn Trimble (Temecula, CA) extended her Northeast Conference lead with seven service aces as the Pioneer women's volleyball team took out Quinnipiac 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-19) Thursday night.

The win lifts SHU's record to 18-7 overall and 8-1 in the NEC, while QU falls to 3-21 and 2-9.

The Pioneers ripped off 15 aces in the match. In addition to Trimble's seven, SHU got four from senior Aurora Appel (Mendham, NJ) and three from Jessica Colberg (Long Beach, CA).

Pioneer freshmen Elise Sage (Greenwood Village, CO) and Johanna Ovsenek (London, Ontario) continued their strong play as well. Sage made just one error while collecting eight kills. She leads the Pioneers in hitting percentage. Ovsenek had nine kills in the match with just three errors.

The Pioneers have a important showdown with Long Island University in the Pitt Center on Saturday at 2:00. LIU is undefeated in conference play and the winner of Saturday's match will have the upper hand in securing the top seed in the Northeast Conference tournament.
