WEST HARTFORD, CT (September 27, 2003) - The Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team dropped back-to-back games at the University of Hartford Tournament Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers fell to the host Hawks in the morning session by scores of 30-28, 30-23 and 30-16 and lost to the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore 30-14, 30-21 and 30-20. The two losses dropped SHU to 1-16 on the season.

In the Hartford loss, junior Stacey Geyer (Amityville, NY) recorded eight kills and 12 digs. Senior Meghan Eaton (Colorado Springs, CO) picked up seven kills and seven digs while junior Jillian Frey (Meridan, CT) recorded 15 digs. Hartford's Stephanie Volckers had 12 kills for the Hawks.

Eaton had eight kills and nine digs in the loss to UMES with sophomore Michelle Clarke (Baltimore, MD) had 23 assists and nine digs. Maryland-Eastern Shore's Aja Smith had 18 kills in 30 attempts with no errors for an outstanding .600 hitting percentage.

Sacred Heart will return to action on Wednesday, October 1st with a trip to Providence College at 7 pm.
