Women's Volleyball Takes Down Dartmouth, 3-1

HANOVER, NH - Sophomore Brittany Best (Norco, CA) set a school record with 24 kills Friday night as the Sacred Heart women's volleyball team bested the host Big Green 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 29-27, 25-23) in the Dartmouth Invitational Friday night.
Best eclipsed her own personal single-match high of 21 kills with her performance at Dartmouth. She also had a personal-best 19 digs in the match as well.
Freshman Elise Sage (Aurora, CO) continued her strong play as well, finishing with 12 kills and committing just one error. She finished with a healthy .579 hitting percentage and continues to lead the Pioneers in that category this season.
Dartmouth, 3-5, made just two hitting errors in the opening set to take it 25-18, but the Pioneers bounced back to win the next three.
After the Pioneers took the second set 25-22, Best had a huge set three. She hit a crisp .571, making just one error and recording nine kills as the Pioneers took it 29-27. In fact, Best's only error of the set came on the opening point. Sage and sophomore Ashlyn Trimble closed out the set with back-to-back kills with the score tied at 27-27.
The Pioneers improve to 6-5 and snapped a four-game losing streak. They return to action Saturday morning at 11 am against Northeastern. SHU will close out the tournament at 3 pm against Central Connecticut.
