  • Sacred Heart Concludes Season on a High Note with 3-1 Victory Over St. Francis Brooklyn

    BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – The Sacred Heart women’s volleyball team nearly swept host St. Francis Brooklyn in a competitive matchup Saturday afternoon at the Genovesi Center. The Pioneers won the first two sets before the Terriers’ credited a third set victory. SHU rallied in the fourth and won by its largest margin to finish off its season with a 3-1 victory and a 6-8 NEC clip. The Terriers end at 2-12 in the league.

    BROOKLYN, NY – The Sacred Heart women’s volleyball team took the first set of the evening and both teams would trade set victories until LIU Brooklyn broke the pattern, crediting the fifth set for the match win, 3-2, Friday evening at the Steinberg Center.

    SMITHFIELD, RI – The Sacred Heart women’s volleyball team endured its second five-setter in two days, Saturday at the Chace Athletic Center. After going up two sets on the evening, Bryant won the next two to force the deciding set and the Bulldogs would prevail for the 3-2 match victory.
  • Sacred Heart’s Late Comeback Not Enough at Central Connecticut

    NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart women’s volleyball team nearly withstood an early 2-0 set lead by Central Connecticut State forcing a fifth set. The hosts managed to hold the Pioneers to negative hitting in the deciding round escaping with the match victory, 3-2, Friday evening inside of Detrick Gymnasium. The conference loss becomes Sacred Heart’s sixth of the season while CCSU clutches the second spot of the Northeast Conference rankings with an 8-3 league clip.
  • Women’s Volleyball Takes Care of Saint Francis U in Three

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart women’s volleyball team bounced back and rounded out its regular season home-stand putting visiting Saint Francis U away in three sets, Saturday evening at the Pitt Center. The Pioneers (5-5 NEC) have now won four of its last five with its three most recent victories doubling as sweeps. The Red Flash (6-5 NEC) picked up their second loss in three matches.

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After Sacred Heart women’s volleyball claimed the first two sets, Robert Morris battled back to force a fifth set, Friday evening at The Pitt Center. In the deciding set, the Pioneers held out for four set points before the Colonials landed an attack the Sacred Heart defense was unable to negate. The loss ends the Pioneers three-game win streak and places them at 4-5 in the NEC, while the Colonials have bested their last three opponents and sit at 6-4.

    Sacred Heart Rolls Past FDU, 3-0, En Route to its Second Consecutive Sweep TEANECK, NJ – The Sacred Heart women’s volleyball team commenced their second round of Northeast Conference action with a 3-0 sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson at Stratis Arena, Friday evening. Capturing their third straight victory and second consecutive sweep, the Pioneers have now evened their league record to 4-4 while the Knights pick up their seventh NEC loss through eight matches.

    SOMERSET, NJ – On Monday afternoon, the Northeast Conference announced its volleyball weekly awards with Sacred Heart redshirt-junior Makayla Dole and sophomore Gianna Scioletti earning recognition. Dole was honored as the Co-Player of the Week while Scioletti was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week.

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. – On the backend of a back-to-back, the Sacred Heart women’s volleyball team swept Northeast Conference member, St. Francis Brooklyn, 3-0, in front of a home crowd at the Pitt Center, Saturday evening. After dropping four conference matchups, the victors are now riding a two-game win streak for a near even league clip to conclude its first trip around the NEC.

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After notching a first set victory, the Sacred Heart women’s volleyball team went on to alternate the next two before tacking on a fourth set win for the 3-1 final over Northeast Conference opponent, LIU Brooklyn, Friday night at the Pitt Center. The win ends a four-match drought for the host.

    The Sacred Heart women’s volleyball team led the Bryant Bulldogs two sets to none Saturday night, but could not hold off the first-place visitors. Bryant rallied back to win the match 3-2 (19-25, 17-25, 32-30, 25-18, 17-15).

    The Sacred Heart women’s volleyball team rallied from two sets down to force a fifth set Friday night at the Pitt Center against the Central Connecticut Blue Devils. However, CCSU hit .312 in the final set to take it 15-12 and the match 3-2 (25-18, 25-21, 22-25, 25-27, 15-12).

The Pioneers opened the day with a five-set loss to the Rider Broncs (21-25, 25-21, 25-9, 21-25, 10-15), followed by a four-set loss to the host Dukes (24-26, 19-25, 25-19, 16-25).
