Sacred Heart Drops Two in Final Day of Hampton Invitational

FAIRFIELD CONN.- The Sacred Heart women's volleyball team finished the SHU Hampton Inn Shelton Invitational with a 1-2 record falling to Milwaukee in 5 sets and Dartmouth in 3.

The Pioneers got off to a quick start versus the Panthers of Milwaukee winning their first two sets by a score of 25-22, and 35-33.  The Panthers were quick to respond, and went on to win the next three sets by a score of 25-20, 25-13, and 15-10 to win the match 3-2 in their opening match of the day. Strong performances came from MaKayla Dole who lead the team in kills with a total of 17. Also contributing with an impressive 14 digs in the match was Ana Gonzalez.

Closing the tournament was a hard fought battle between Dartmouth College and Sacred Heart where Sacred Heart fell just short each of the 3 sets.  MaKayla Dole lead the team in kills with 14, followed by Sarah Krufka with 13 kills in the match. Dole also added the teams only solo block of the night.

The pioneers look to bounce back next week as they take on Fairfield University at the Fairfield tournament on Friday September 9th
