After day one of the 2007 Northeast Conference Track & Field Championship, the Sacred Heart men's team sits in third place and the women fourth with both teams wrapping up competition on Sunday. The big news of the day came from senior Evan Lasher who won the discus by setting a new Northeast Conference record.
Continuing his already stellar career path, Sacred Heart senior Evan Lasher (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) broke the NEC record in the first event, the discus. The perennial powerhouse in the field events crushed the field with a new conference mark of 53.53m, qualifying him for the NCAA regional meet by over one meter.
With an ECAC qualifying mark of 13.68m, Sacred Heart senior Marsha Locke (Danbury, CT/Danbury) captured the gold in the shot put.
