NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart women's track and field team won a pair of events Sunday at the Yale Springtime Invitational, held at the Dewitt Cuyler Athletic Complex.
Kolbi Smith won the shot put with a throw of 46'8.75", winning by over five feet. She was also third in both the discus (113'0") and hammer throw (161'4"). Mareena DiMilia took first place in the javelin with a heave of 133'7", winning the event by over 20 feet. DiMilia was fourth in the discus (112'6") and seventh in the hammer throw (144'10"). Julia Cassidy had a pair of top-five finishes, placing third in the javelin (110'5") and fifth in the discus (107'10").
Dylan Baker had a third place finish in the long jump with a leap of 17'6". She was also eighth in the triple jump at 33'6.5" as Lorraine Santiago placed sixth with a jump of 33'9.25". Sara Isaacson cleared 9'8" in the pole vault to finish fourth, with Emily Kiss and Sarah Wallis clearing 9'2.25" to tie for fifth place.
On the track, Angela Harrison finished second in the 100 meters in a time of 12.43 seconds. She was second by 0.01 seconds. Harrison won her heat in the 200 meters in 25.92 seconds, placing sixth overall. Sarah Nacci was second in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 13:34.04. Katelyn Racanelli ran third in the 400 meters with a time of 59.05 seconds, with Kayla Lawrence fifth in 59.97. Leah O'Neill took third in the 5000 meters in 21:12.71 as Kate Sheridan was fifth in 21:54.32. In the 400 meter hurdles, Shay Cronin finished fourth (1:09.40) with Angela Torriero fifth (1:10.41).
Sacred Heart is next in action May 3-4 at the Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Robert Morris.
