LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Sacred Heart women's track and field teams had 13 top-five finishes on Saturday to finish second in the team standings at the Rider University Invitational.
Kolbi Smith won the shot put with a throw of 47'3.75". She was also fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 147'2". Mareena DiMilia also had a pair of top-five finishes, placing second in the hammer throw (174'8") and fourth in the shot put (38'1.25"). She was also eighth in the discus with a throw of 109'11". Nicole Bartosch was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 18'1" and placed fifth in the high jump by clearing 5'3". Sara Isaacson cleared 10'8" in the pole vault, leading to a fourth-place finish. Julia Cassidy was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 112'6".
On the track, Ashia Wright and Angela Harrison scored for Sacred Heart in the 100 meters. Wright placed second in a time of 12.41 seconds with Harrison sixth in 12.69 seconds. Those two, along with Dylan Baker and Kayla Lawrence, finished fifth in the 4x100 relay in 49.12 seconds. The 4x400 relay of Bartosch, Lawrence, Bridget Carey, and Katelyn Racanelli ran a time of 3:56.43 to place second in the race. Racanelli also had a third-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 57.44 seconds. Brianna Castrogivanni ran second in the 800 meters, with her time of 2:15.62 a personal best and the third fastest time in program history. In the 200 meters, Ashia Wright placed fifth in 25.74 seconds. The Pioneers also got top-eight finishes from Molly Barker in the 1500 meters, Shay Cronin in the 400 meter hurdles, and Teresa Gagliostro in the 5000 meters.
Sacred Heart finished the meet with 109 points, second to Rider's 122.5 points. Saint Joseph's was third with 103.75 points, followed by Saint Peter's and Kutztown.
The Pioneers will compete in four different meets next week, beginning with the Holy Cross College Heptathlon April 16-17.
