Distance Runners Set Top NEC Times At Terrier Women’s Invitational

BOSTON – The Sacred Heart women's track and field teams set some of the fastest times in the NEC Friday night at the John Thomas Terrier Women's Invitational at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

Junior Elizabeth Hutchins (Pawcatuck, Conn.) had the Pioneers' top finish of the night, placing fifth in the 5000m. Her time of 16:54.52 was Sacred Heart's fastest of the season and the top NEC time in the event. Brianna Castrogivanni (Commack, N.Y.) ran a 9:37.85 in the 3000m, the fastest time in the NEC. Both Hutchins and Castrogivanni have the top-two times in the NEC in both the 3000m and 5000m so far this indoor season. In the mile, Emma Bolduc (Peterborough, N.H.) had a time of 5:02.65. That is the second-fastest time in the NEC this season. In the field, Kolbi Smith (Valatie, N.Y.) finished eighth in the shot put with a throw of 43'5".

The Pioneers return to the track on Saturday, Feb. 1 for the University of Rhode Island Coaches Invitational.
