FAIRFIELD, CT (July 30, 2013) - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named both the Men's and Women's Track and Field teams at Sacred Heart to the 2013 Division I Track & Field All-Academic teams. Alyssa Selmquist was named to the 2013 Division I All-Academic team.
The SHU women's team is one of 187 teams in the NCAA to make the women's list, posting a cumulative 3.26 GPA. The SHU men's team is one of 111 teams to make the men's list, posting a cumulative 3.07 GPA. To make the list, a team must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better.
Sacred Heart graduate Alyssa Selmquist (Northford, CT) was one of a group of 710 women who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic distinctions. The 710 women came from 187 institutions earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined efforts in competition and in the classroom.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
