NEW HAVEN, CT (April 29, 2013) - The Sacred Heart track & field teams participated in the 2013 Yale Springtime Invitational on Sunday in their final tune-up for this weekend's Northeast Conference Championship meet.
Junior Lindsay Aponte (West Islip, NY) continued to rack up the wins this spring, taking home the medal in the shot put for the fourth-straight meet. Aponte, the NEC leader on the performance list heading into the championship meet, topped the field with a throw of 46'5.25", meeting the ECAC Championship standard once again.
Freshman thrower Adaora Nwodili (Coram, NY) was second to Aponte in the shot put and took fourth in the discus on Sunday. Nwodili turned in a throw of 39'9.75" in the shot put and had a season-best toss of 122'10" in the discus.
Junior Joselyn Henry (Westport, CT) was fourth in the shot put with a throw 36'3". Sophomore Katherine Wilk (Colts Neck, NJ) finished fifth in the discus, 109'6", and fifth in the javelin, 98'10". Junior Kaitlyn Doyle (Danbury, CT) was fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 125'2" and eighth in the discus with a throw of 88'4". Senior Patricia Deutsch (Somerset, NJ) was sixth in the hammer at 119'3".
Junior Seanne Denny (Randolph, MA) ran fifth in the 100 meter dash, clocking in at 12.35 seconds, meeting the New England Championship qualifying standard.
Sophomore Bridget Carey (St. James, NY) finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.5.
Sophomore Dylan Baker (Petersham, MA) was second in the long jump with a season-best leap of 17'4.25".
The NEC Championship gets underway on Saturday morning at Monmouth University.
