Women's Tennis Team Announces 2009-10 Schedule

Fairfield, CT - Head Coach Mike Guastelle has announced the Sacred Heart women's tennis team's schedule for the upcoming 2009-10 season. The Pioneers will take on their top NEC rivals as well as some of the best programs in the Northeast.

Sacred Heart will open its fall schedule on September 17 at home against Northeast Conference foe Monmouth. The Pioneers will compete in tournaments the next two weekends as part of the Quinnipiac Invitational and the Eastern Intercollegiate Championships at Army. Dual matches at Manhattan and UConn, along with a tri-match at Stony Brook with St. Peter's make-up the middle of the fall slate. The New England Championships, hosted by Sacred Heart are set for October 17-18, with the ITA Regionals closing out the fall schedule October 24-25.

The "spring indoor" part of the Pioneers' schedule commences on January 30 when SHU visits NJIT. The Pioneers will play a pair of matches at West Point February 6-7, taking on Army and Binghamton. A home match with Holy Cross and a trip to Bryant round out February. This year's Spring Break trip will take the Pioneers to Orlando, FL from March 7-10 to take on South Dakota State, Creighton and Radford.

The traditional spring season kicks into high gear on March 22 when SHU visits Albany, followed by a trip to traditional NEC power LIU on March 24. The Pioneers play four straight home matches entering the Easter Holiday, hosting Hartford, Providence, UMass and Hofstra. Two more NEC showdowns loom large after the Easter Break as the Pioneers visit Quinnipiac on April 9 and Fairleigh Dickinson on April 11. The Northeast Conference Championship is set for April 16-18.
