Five Women's Tennis Players Garner All-NEC Honors

Fairfield, CT - Freshman Kristina Chao (Needham, MA) was named First Team All-Northeast Conference, leading a group of five Sacred Heart players who earned All-NEC honors in women's tennis. The awards were announced Wednesday by the league office. Sophomore Elizabeth Harrington (Westerly, RI) and freshman Delaney Downing (Englewood, CO) were each named to the second team in singles while Julianne Kasinow (Wall, NJ) and Darcy Demers (Norton, MA) earned second team honors in doubles.

Chao had an outstanding rookie year, posting a 17-6 regular season record playing in the fifth singles slot for the red and white. She finished the season strong, winning seven straight and eight of her final ten matches in the spring.

Harrington earned All-NEC honors in the fourth singles hole. She had a team high 19 victories during the year and won eight of her last ten matches to end the season. Downing meanwhile was 13-7 in her rookie season and went 9-4 playing sixth singles for the Pioneers. Kasinow and Demers were the most productive team for the Pioneers all year long, They were 12-7 as a duo and finished the season 8-2 including two match wins at the NEC tournament.

Sacred Heart finished the season with a program high record 12 victories.
