Fairfield, CT - The Sacred Heart women's tennis team opened their dual match schedule as they traveled to Monmouth on Tuesday. There was never a doubt in the match as the Pioneers won all 9 contests recording two shutout wins in doubles and surrendering only 20 games in the entire meet.
Julianne Kasinow (Wall, NJ/Wall) led the charge at first singles winning 6-0, 6-2 and dominated an 8-0 match at first doubles with her partner Nicole Betz (Long Beach NY, Sacred Heart). The other Pioneer doubles teams, Kate Donnelly (Centerville, MA/Barnstable) and Mandy Finkelstein (Portland, CT/Portland) and Kristina Chao (Needham, MA/Needham) and Delaney Downing (Englewood, CO/Cherry Creek) were victorious in 8-2 and 8-0 affairs respectively.
The rout continued as the Pioneers won every singles match in straight sets. Elizabeth Harrington (Westerly, RI/Westerly) recorded a point for SHU winning 6-0, 6-4 as did Darcy Demers (Norton, MA, Bishop Feehan) who cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Donnelly, Betz, and Chao assured the sweep winning their singles contests to go along with their triumphs in doubles.
The Pioneers move to 1-0 on the season and will return to action this weekend at the Eastern Intercollegiate Championship to be held at Army in West Point, NY
