West Point, NY - Sophomore Julianne Kasinow (Wall, NJ) and freshman Darcy Demers (Norton, MA) each picked up a pair of wins to lead the Sacred Heart women's tennis team in play at the Eastern Intercollegiate Championships at Army over the weekend. Both players finished the tournament with a 2-2 record.
Kasinow beat Katie Lyons of Providence and Anna Martovell of St. Bonaventure. Meanwhile, Demers was victorious against Siena's Lauren Moy and Marist's Megan Burgess.
In other singles action, juniors Nicole Betz (Long Beach, NY) and Mandy Finkelstein (Portland, CT), senior Jessica Schnell (Schnectady, NY), and sophomore Ashley Amalfe (Clark, NJ) all won matches. On the doubles side, Brittany Price (Meriden, CT) and Elizabeth Harrington (Westerly, RI) teamed up for a win over a pair of players from Marist.
The Pioneers open their home schedule against Robert Morris on Saturday. Matches will begin at 9:30 am.
