FAIRFIELD, CT (April 9, 2006) - The Sacred Heart women's tennis team posted a 4-3 win over visiting Providence Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers and Friars split the six singles matches but SHU came up with doubles wins at #2 and #3 to take the match with the doubles point.

SHU senior Lauren Galatie (Monroe, CT) posted a singles win over Jennifer Daigle at #1, 6-1, 6-4. Freshman Laura Murillo (Pittsfield, MA) won her #3 singles match, 6-2, 6-3, over Ashley Rissolo and sophomore Jessica Schnell (Schenectady, NY) posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over Erin Kenaga at #4 singles.

The Pioneer doubles teams of Murillo and fellow freshman Nicole Betz (Long Beach, NY) and Schnell and freshman Mandy Finkelstein (Portland, CT) posted wins to claim the doubles point.

Murillo and Betz won 8-4 over Katie Lyons and Kerry Schulz at #2 doubles while Schnell and Finkelstein won 8-5 over Rissolo and Meghan Gilroy.

The Pioneers are back on the court on Wednesday, April 12th, when they host New Hampshire at 1 pm.
