Final Stats

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 31, 2007) - Sacred Heart senior Pam Pillo (Shelton, CT) and sophomore Nicole Betz (Long Beach, NY) teamed up to win at #1 doubles and each won their singles matches to lead the Pioneers to a 5-2 win over visiting Albany Saturday afternoon at the SHU Tennis Courts. Sacred Heart improves to 7-6 in dual match play this season.

Pillo posted a 6-2 and 6-3 win over Amy Kern at the #1 singles spot while Betz won a hard fought three set match at #3 over Christina Suarez. Betz lost the first set 7-6 (3) but rebounded to take the second 7-5 and win in the tie breaker 10-5.

Other singles winners for SHU were sophomore Mandy Finkelstein (Portland, CT) at #5 over Kim Westcott 6-4, 6-2 and freshman Ashley Amalfe (Clark, NJ) by default at #6.

Pillo and Betz came through with an 8-4 win over Kern and Kim Weltman at #1 to give SHU the doubles point. The Pioneers got a default win in the #3 doubles position.

The Pioneers take on Northeast Conference foe Wagner on Tuesday, April 3rd in Staten Island at 3:00 pm.
