FAIRFIELD, Conn – Junior Nicole Rydzewski (Maspeth, NY) has been named to the Northeast Conference women's tennis second team, announced by the conference Wednesday afternoon. Rydzewski is the first Pioneer to earn an All-Conference nod since Delaney Downing did it in 2010.
Rydzewski finished the season red hot, winning eight of her last nine matches, including a 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 win over Saint Francis' Danielle Gryckiewicz in Sacred Heart's final match of the season. Gryckiewicz was named to the All-NEC second team in doubles. Rydzewski was named NEC Player of the Week on April 8th after finishing the week with a 5-1 record, including straight set singles wins over Quinnipiac, Manhattan, and Albany.
Overall, the New York native finished 4-1 against Northeast Conference competition, including wins over Bryant's Devlin Ammendola, and Robert Morris' Alina Schibol. Rydzewski finished the season with a 9-2 record at number five singles and a 13-6 total dual match record, going 5-1 in three-set matches.
