Sacred Heart Drops Hartford 6-1

FAIRFIELD, Conn – The Sacred Heart women's tennis team swept the doubles point for the second consecutive match and cruised to a 6-1 win over Hartford Thursday afternoon at the SHU Tennis Courts. The Pioneers improve to 7-10 on the season.

After easily sweeping the doubles point, the Pioneers followed it up with five singles victories. Junior Nicole Rydzewski (Maspeth, NY) made it six singles wins in a row with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 win at number three singles over Katina Zampas.  Lindsey Post (Danbury, CT), Paige Olson (Sykesville, MD), and Mariah Wardius (Reading, PA) all cruised to straight set wins.

The Pioneers will look for three in a row Saturday afternoon when the UMass Minutemen come to town.
