Mulvey Follows Up All-NEC Showing With Third Place Finish at ECAC

FAIRFIELD, CT - Junior Drew Mulvey (Bridgewater, CT) was named the Northeast Conference Diver of the Year a week ago. This week she took third place in the one meter dive at the ECAC Open Swimming and Diving Championship in Pittsburgh, PA. Mulvey's score of 235.45 was a personal best and school record. She also finished eighth in the three meter with a score of 187.60
Katie Marshall, a junior from Cumberland, RI, finished 10th in the finals of the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.25. She was also a part of the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays that set new Sacred Heart records. Teamed up with a trio of freshman, Juliette Wallerstein (Southbury, CT), Meg Bellamy (Barrington, RI), and Rachel McGrath (Dorchester, MA) the relay team completed the 200 in 1:41.95 and the 400 in 3:40.16.
In the preliminary round of the 400, Wallerstein set a school record in the 100-yard freestyle by swimming the first leg of the race in 54.39 seconds.
Wallerstein also swam the 50 and 100-yard freestyles and as the anchor for the 200 and 400-yard medley relay teams. In the 50 free, she hit the wall in 25.22 and finished the 100 in 54.82. The medley relay teams, consisting of Bellamy, Marshall, and freshman Stephanie Walters (Wanaque, NY) completed their races in 1:52.68 and 4:05.22, respectively.
As a team, the Pioneers scored 74 points to finish 14th in a 24 team field.
