SHU Swim Team 0-2 at Bridgeport double-dual meet

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. (November 22, 2013)—The Sacred Heart women's swim team went 0-2 Friday afternoon, falling to Yale 107-76 and Bridgeport 125-79. The Pioneers capture four second places finishes, their best of the double-dual meet.


Olivia Decas (Mattaposiett, Mass.) took second in the 100 meter Backstroke (1:10.71), while Meredith Nyser (Barrington, R.I.) finished second in the 400 meter Freestyle, and Malvina Reinhold (Gothenburg, Sweden) was second in the 200 meter Breaststroke. The team of Caleigh Dion (Dunstable, Mass.), Alyssa Farnsworth (Leominster, Mass.), Julia Pedersen (Washington Township, N.J.) and Decas finished second in the 200 meter Freestyle Relay swimming the race in 1:58.04.


Right behind Nyser in the 400 meter Freestyle was senior Amy Nunes (Seekonk, Mass.), who swam the event in 5:20.98 for third place. Nunes' was just one of three Pioneer third-place finishes. Sacred Heart took third in the 200 meter Medley Relay, and freshman Jillian Crosby (Port Monmouth, N.J.) finished third in the 100 meter Freestyle (1:01.70).


Hayley McGill (Old Lyme, Conn.) and Nyser snagged fourth place finishes in the 100 meter Backstroke and 800 meter Freestyle respectively. Sacred Heart swam to four fifth place finishes: Crosby in the 200 meter Freestyle (2:12.7), Lizzy Bennett (Fairbanks, Alaska) in the 100 meter IM (2:32.74) and the 100 meter Butterfly (1:07.59) and Pedersen in the 100 meter Breaststroke (1:25.8).
