Pioneers Take 8th at NE Catholic Invitational

FAIRFIELD, CONN. (October 19, 2013)—The Sacred Heart swim team finished eighth at the New England Catholic Invitational this weekend in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Freshman Jillian Crosby got the team's highest spot when she finished third swimming the 200 yard Freestyle in 1:59.00.

Crosby also accounted for one of the Pioneers' five seventh place finishes in the 100 yard Backstroke. The other seventh place finishes were in: the 200 yard Freestyle Relay (1:43.43), Meredith Nyser (Barrington, R.I.) in the 1000 yard Freestyle (11:18.87) and the 200 yard Backstroke (2:17.24), and Siobhan Goodman (Ridgewood, N.J.) in the 200 yard Butterfly (2:16.87).

In addition to their seventh place finish in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay, Sacred Heart also nabbed top 10 finished in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay and the 200 yard Medley Relay ranking fifth and eighth respectively. 

Malvina Reinhold (Gothenburg, Sweden) snagged the only other Pioneer top 10 finish when she took eighth in the 100 yard Breaststroke, completely the race in 1:11.17.
